Friðrik Þór Hjálmarsson

Brings an unusual combination of financial leadership and technical depth to one of Iceland's most strategically important port authorities. As CFO of Faxaflóahafnir since 2025, he oversees the financial operations of the port authority behind Iceland's busiest cruise ports, while remaining closely connected to the technology and infrastructure that drives them forward.

His relationship with Faxaflóahafnir goes back further than his title suggests. Friðrik first worked the port's docks in his early twenties during summer seasons, before returning as an IT specialist in 2021 after a career as a software developer. Rising through the organization to Head of IT, he stepped into the CFO role in 2025, bringing with him a conviction that understanding how things are built, from the quayside up, is inseparable from leading them well.
